Description
This building, located to the northwest of Island House and adjacent to former public lavatories in Polperro, is a store and studio dating from around the mid-19th century. It is constructed of painted stone rubble and features a slate roof with gable ends. The building has two storeys, with a gable end facing the front that includes two 19th-century two-light casement windows with glazing bars, flanking a partly glazed plank stable door. All these elements are topped with a long timber lintel. On the first floor, there is a three-light 19th-century casement window, also with a long timber lintel. At the rear, steps lead up to a plank door that provides access to the loft. The north slope of the roof has a corrugated plastic roof light. A 20th-century shelter with a lean-to roof has been added on the south side, overlooking the harbour. The exterior of the building remains unaltered. It is included in the register for its group value and is documented in an early photograph from around 1860 by Lewis Harding.
