Description

SW 73 SE BUDOCK TREWOON

3/59 Gate-piers and flanking walls at 10.7.57 road entrance at approximately 200m metres west-north-west of Trewoon GV II*

Gate-piers and flanking walls. Circa late C17. Granite ashlar with granite dressings. Wide gateway flanked by square-on-plan piers adjoining short length of wall at either side. Tall gate-piers are like square columns. Each pier has an entablature with moulded architrave, ashlar frieze and cyma moulded cornice surmounted by ball finials on conical plinths. Flanking walls have moulded granite copings. Left-hand pier was partly rebuilt in the C20.
