Description
The stables and adjoining outbuilding, located immediately east of Butts Parc, date from the mid-19th century. The stables are constructed of slate rubble, while the outbuilding features vertical slate slabs set between granite posts, with a rendered rear. Both structures have slate gable-ended roofs.
The stables are two storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay front. The central doorway has a plank door and a rectangular overlight, flanked by 12-pane sash windows with slate cills, all topped with cambered brick arches. There are no windows on the first floor, but there is a loft doorway on the left (east) gable end, which also has a cambered brick arch, a plank door, and a hoist beam above. Below this, there is a large water tank made of slate slabs. A 20th-century greenhouse is located at the rear.
The adjoining outbuilding to the right (west) is a single storey, with its front wall made of large slate slabs between granite posts. It features a plank door on the left and a row of small windows below the eaves on the right, which have boarded shutters. The right (west) end has plank double doors and a weatherboarded gable.
Inside, the stables retain simple wooden stalls from the 19th century and a granite paved floor, while the outbuilding has a slate floor.
