Description
House at Tubbs Mill is an early to mid 19th century building with some 20th century alterations. It is constructed of slatestone rubble with brick dressings and granite quoins, topped with a half-hipped asbestos slate roof featuring ridge tiles. The house has a double depth plan with a central entrance, and the principal rooms are located to the front right and left, each heated by an end stack. There are service rooms at the rear, including a kitchen to the rear left and a smaller unheated room to the rear right, with a stair hall in between.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 19th century 12-pane sashes with cambered brick arches. The central entrance features a 20th century half-glazed door with an overlight and a cambered brick arch. The left end of the building is blind, while the right end has a 19th century two-light three-pane casement at ground floor to the right, also with a cambered brick arch. At the rear, there are three 19th century 12-pane sashes with cambered brick arches on the first floor and one on the ground floor to the right and left. The central door at the rear is a plank door with a glazed panel and a cambered brick arch. The interior has not been inspected but may still have good plain features from the 19th century.
