Description
Wren's Roost and Fow Goth is a house and adjoining cottage built around the late 18th century or early 19th century, with elements from the mid-19th century. The buildings feature painted rubble walls and rendered cob on the upper floor of the front. The cottage, known as Wren's Roost, has an asbestos slate roof, while the other house has a wheat reed thatched roof. There are brick chimneys located over the left gable end, the right hipped end, and the party wall.
The layout consists of a double-depth plan. The cottage contains one room at the front and likely another room behind it, with an entrance leading to a stair on the right. The house has two rooms at the front flanking an entrance hall, which probably leads to a stair between the rear service rooms.
The exterior is two-storeys high with an overall four-window front facing southeast. The cottage on the left has a regular two-window front with a doorway beneath the right-hand window, featuring a panelled door with an overlight and original 12-pane hornless sash windows. The house has a nearly symmetrical two-window front with a doorway approximately central to the windows, featuring an old four-panel door with the top panels later glazed and 16-pane hornless sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
