Description
This is a pair of houses built in the mid-19th century, situated on Godolphin Road, Helston. They form part of a terrace of six houses, originally conceived as two pairs. The houses are constructed with incised stucco over a rubble core. A mid-floor band incorporating a Vitruvian scroll design, moulded architraves, and projecting eaves above a moulded and carved cornice are prominent external features. The roof is covered in asbestos slate and features brick end stacks.
The houses have a double-depth plan and present a symmetrical front to the road, with an overall five-window range. Numbers 28 and 30 have a three-window front. Number 28 has two 20th-century replacement windows, while the remaining windows are original 16-pane hornless sash windows. Number 28 also includes overlights with a patterned design on numbers 32 and 34. Numbers 32 and 34 feature a central half-domed niche. These houses retain original 16-pane sash windows and horned copies to number 32, along with overlights featuring glazing bars, including squat central diamond panes. Number 32 has a 20th-century door; number 34 retains an older four-panel door with glazing at the top. The interiors have not been inspected but are likely to contain features of interest.
