Description

No. 35 on Fore Street is a house that likely dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of painted slatestone rubble and features an asbestos slate roof with a brick chimney located over the left gable end. The house has a two-room through passage plan and stands two storeys tall. The front originally had five windows but now has three. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door, with the top two panels being glazed. The windows are wooden sashes with four panes and horns. The eaves were probably raised in the 19th century, and there is a rear wing from the 18th century at the upper end of the house. The interior is fairly intact, showcasing a turned baluster stair, two-panel doors, dado panelling, and a beamed ceiling in the wing. This building is included for its group value.
