Description

This is an outbuilding located 10 metres to the north-west of Higher Lank Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid 19th century, which incorporates earlier dressed stone from the early 17th century. The structure is built from local stone rubble with dressed granite quoins and features rag slate roofs. The main range has hipped ends and consists of two storeys, with shippens on the ground floor and a threshing floor above. Attached to the left side is a second outbuilding that likely contains shippens or stables on the ground floor and a loft above.

The exterior of the front range has two storeys and includes a wide chamfered segmental arch to the right of centre, flanked by narrow ventilation slits. There is a central door leading to the threshing floor above, with a row of pigeon hides below the eaves. The rear elevation features ventilation slits on the ground floor and an external stone rubble stair with granite treads leading up to double plank doors on the first floor. The lower left side of the building has a two-storey front elevation with a reset early 17th-century chamfered segmental arch and ventilation slits. A stone rubble buttress is located to the left, and there is a blocked door on the first floor. The single-storey rear elevation rises as the ground slopes to the east.

Inside, the roof construction dates from the 19th century.
