Description
This is a terrace of three houses situated on Killigrew Street, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The houses are stuccoed over a masonry core and have an asbestos slate roof with hips to the left, and brick stacks positioned forward of the ridge towards the right and far right. They are arranged with a double-depth plan and extend over two storeys, presenting an overall six-window frontage. The original windows retain their 6/6-pane hornless sashes, though the window on the left has horns. The ground floors have been altered with three late-19th century shop fronts. The shop front to the left (No. 64) is symmetrical with a doorway to the left of No. 62. The shop front to No. 60 has an unequal frontage with a doorway towards the left. All shop fronts feature splayed sidelights, overlights, glazed doors, slender mullions, and plate-glass windows. Pilasters with consoles rise above a moulded entablature with a fascia. The rear wall is slate-hung; No. 64 retains original scantle slates and 12-pane sashes, while Nos. 60 and 62 have asbestos slates. The interior of No. 64 includes an early to mid-19th century dog-leg staircase with column newels and stick balusters, and a moulded wooden chimney piece on the first floor. The building is included on the list for its group value.
