Description

This is a pair of small town houses, now used as offices, built in the early to mid-19th century in Falmouth. The houses are constructed of local kills rubble stone, with a scantle slate roof and brick end stacks that project forward of the ridge. They have a double-depth plan and are two storeys high plus an attic, set over a basement. The building has an overall four-window width, with narrower windows in the centre above a pair of doorways. The ground floor doorways have slender, fluted half-columns topped with consoles, a fascia, a moulded cornice, and a simple hood. These doorways originally had hornless sash windows, but now contain 20th-century replacements, except for a wider window on the left. The first floor retains original hornless sash windows with glazing bars, as do the basement windows. The attic has three hipped dormers with 4/4-pane sashes. The rear of the building retains many original hornless sash windows with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected. The building is approached by wide granite steps leading to granite-coped forecourt walls topped with iron railings.
