Description

This building is an outbuilding and cartshed located 30 meters to the northeast of Higher Trefreock, dating from around the 1840s. It is possibly a stable with a granary above, constructed from stone rubble and featuring dressed stone arches for the ground and first floor openings, granite quoins, and a slate roof with hipped ends. The building has an almost square plan and includes an external stair to the loft on the left end. It is two stories high with a regular single window front, having openings on the ground floor and a central first-floor opening with a cambered stone arch and key block. There are stone rubble steps leading up to the loft on the left side, and a line of pigeon holes is situated below the eaves. The cartshed, which is adjoining on the right-hand side, is an open-fronted single-storey range made of stone rubble with a rag slate roof, supported at the front by timber, granite, and stone rubble piers. The overall plan is 'L' shaped, featuring a two-bay range at the front and a projecting four-bay range on the right. This building is part of a group with Higher Trefreock.
