Description
The Fo'c'sle is a house that may date back to the 18th century and was partly remodeled in the late 19th century. It has a rendered and painted stone rubble exterior, with asbestos slate-hung above the ground floor at the front and a rag slate roof featuring gable ends. The building is set into the side of a steeply sloping bank, and the original ground floor plan likely consisted of two rooms and a cross passage, which has been extended with a 20th-century projecting bay.
The front of the house is asymmetrical and has two storeys, featuring a 20th-century five-light casement window with glazing bars, a 20th-century door, and a 19th or 20th-century casement window above. The rear elevation facing Church Hill has a 20th-century partly glazed door on the left. The interior has been largely remodeled. The building is included for its group value.
