Description

This is a barn, possibly with a horse engine house, located northwest of Nancegollan Farmhouse. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed from granite rubble, featuring dressed granite quoins, sills, jambstones, and lintels. The barn has a hipped scantle slate roof and a rectangular plan, with a small wing that may have served as an engine house projecting at a right angle to the front on the left side. It likely functioned for grain or fodder storage above a shippon.

The barn is two storeys high. The east front shows the remains of the projecting wing on the left, with ground and first-floor windows towards the left side. There is a doorway left of the center, with a loading doorway above it, and a ground floor window located midway between these two openings, with another window above towards the right. A loading doorway is also present at the right end and at the rear of the building. The ground floor features top-glazed windows, while the first-floor window has shutters and central wooden mullions. The doors are either ledged or panelled. The barn is part of an unspoiled courtyard of farm buildings that relate to Nancegollan House and Nancegollan Farmhouse.
