Description
Lobbs Shop Cottage is a house dating from the 18th century, with a 19th-century extension. It is constructed of rendered stone and features a slate roof with gabled ends, along with brick stacks at the gable end and along the ridge. The building has a three-room plan, originally consisting of two rooms with a central entrance. The right-hand room served as the kitchen, which includes a gable-end fireplace and a stair turret at the back, while the left-hand room was likely the parlour. In the 19th century, a one-bay extension was added to the left end, and outshuts at the rear and left end were probably added later in the 19th century. The cottage is two storeys high and has a southeast front with a layout of one bay on the left and three bays on the right. It features 12-pane sash windows and a central plank door, which is sheltered by a slate canopy. There is a lean-to single-storey outshut on the left end, and the rear includes a projecting former stair turret on the left and a later single-storey outshut on the right with a lean-to roof. The interior has not been inspected.
