Description

SW 97 NW ST MINVER PORTHILLY LOWLANDS 3/316 Tombchest and headstone of Jane - Proffit 2.0m to east of chancel of Church of St. Michael GV II Tombchest and headstone. C17 and 1798. Tombchest if circa early to mid C17 with low slate rubble chest, partly buried in ground, and slate rectangular lid. The inscription on the lid is eroded. Coat of arms carved in shallow relief. Headstone of Jane, wife of John Proffit who died in 1798. Also their son John who died in 1798. Slate headstone with triangular head. Inscription in upper and lower case lettering with serifs. Verse below.
