Description

GWINEAR-GWITHIAN SW 63 NW 5/3 Barns at approximately from 5 metres north west of Lanyon Farmhouse

GV II 2 adjoining barns. Possibly C17, remodelled and extended in the C19. Granite rubble walls with granite dressings and incorporating some C17 dressed granite features. L-plan dry Delabole slate roof with gable ends. Plan: L-shaped plan with probably granaries over stables and shippons. Exterior: 2 storeys. 3 window east front with upper storey mostly rebuilt circa late C19. Ground floor has C17 chamfered doorway, left of middle and outer frame of 2-light mullioned window, also possibly in situ, on the right. This range overlooks the front garden of Lanyon Farmhouse qv, and is probably the former stabling. North front is probably C19 and has some reused C17 masonry: basket arch over the first floor loading doorway (possibly from the house) and chamfered lintels over the flanking window openings. Interior: Not inspected.
