Description
The barns located approximately 5 meters north-west of Lanyon Farmhouse are two adjoining structures, possibly dating from the 17th century, which were remodeled and extended in the 19th century. They feature granite rubble walls with granite dressings, incorporating some dressed granite elements from the 17th century. The barns have an L-shaped plan and are topped with a dry Delabole slate roof that has gable ends.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a three-window east front where the upper storey was mostly rebuilt around the late 19th century. The ground floor includes a 17th-century chamfered doorway to the left of the center and an outer frame of a two-light mullioned window, which may also be original, on the right. This range likely served as former stabling and overlooks the front garden of Lanyon Farmhouse. The north front, likely from the 19th century, incorporates some reused 17th-century masonry, including a basket arch over the first-floor loading doorway, which may have originated from the farmhouse, and chamfered lintels above the flanking window openings. The interior has not been inspected.
