Description

The Lodge is a mid-19th century house that was originally built as a lodge. It features slatestone rubble with granite dressings and has a hipped slate roof adorned with crested ridge tiles. The building includes an axial stack with three diagonal brick shafts. The plan consists of two rooms, each heated by back-to-back fireplaces from the axial stack, with an entrance through a porch at the left end.

The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with two windows, all of which are 20th-century replacements. The ground floor includes a three-light and a two-light casement window, flanked by buttresses in rubble with a cornice above. On the first floor, there are two two-light casements, each topped with a small gable. The left side serves as the entrance front, featuring a two-storey canted bay with a gable and a two-light casement on the first floor. The ground floor is open and plastered internally, supported by plain granite columns that hold up the upper storey. There are round-arched niches to the right and left of a central 20th-century door with cover strips and a glazed panel. The right side has a two-light casement on the first floor with a small gable above it, and there is a single-storey lean-to on the right with a door. The house is built into the bank at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
