Description
Rodds Bridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the 17th century, featuring alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from whitewashed plastered cob and stone, topped with a wheat reed thatched roof that is hipped at the left end. A chimney made of local brick is situated on the ridge. The farmhouse was originally two rooms wide, likely with a baffle entry. An adjoining outbuilding on the right has been incorporated into the house's accommodation, with its roof raised in the late 20th century. The building has two storeys and a two-window front, including the former outbuilding. The front door is located under a slated pent roof, which extends over 19th-century canted sash bay windows on both sides. The left-side first-floor window is a 19th-century two-light casement with four panes per light. Inside, there are unmoulded crossbeams of heavy scantling and axial beams. The structure features two fireplaces in the stack; the fireplace in the left-hand room has a cambered chamfered beam, likely re-used, while the large fireplace in the middle room has a chamfered beam with ogee stops. The roof space has not been inspected.
