NORTH PETHERWIN SX 29 SE 4/69 Forda Farmhouse - II

Farmhouse. 1844 (datestone), built for the Bedford Estate. Constructed of brick, manufactured on the farm. Rendered and partly slate hung with large rag slates. Rag slate roof with gable ends. Moulded brick axial and end stacks. Plan: Overall 'L' shaped plan. Entrance on front (north) with stair to rear of passage; parlour to left heated by end stack and cross wing to right with service room on front right heated by axial stack and kitchen to rear heated by end stack. Pump room in later single storey C19 extension on right hand side of cross wing, facing yard to west. Vestigial Gothic style. Exterior: 2 storeys. Regular 1:1 window front with complete C19 casements. Entrance in angle of main range and wing to front right. C19 door with 3-light casement to left on ground floor and 2-light casement above. Gable end of front wing to right with 3-light casement on ground floor and 2-light casement above. Datestone in gable end 'B 1844'. Right hand side elevation faces yard to west. Hung with rag slates with single storey pump house on ground floor and 2-light casements in the triple gable ends lighting first floor. Interior: Largely complete with original partitions. Large slate fireplace surround to kitchen.
