Description

Islander Cottage is a 17th-century building located on Fore Street in West Looe. It is a surviving part of a larger house, constructed from painted rubble with timber lintels. The cottage features a steep dry slate roof with original clay ridge tiles, which may have originally had a ridge similar to that of the nearby Jolly Sailer Inn and other local buildings. There is a rear lateral brick stack on the left side. The cottage has a single-depth plan with a later rear outshut, while the left-hand part of the house was demolished in the 20th century. It stands two storeys high and has a one-window range, with 20th-century 16-pane, 2-light casements in a projecting bay on the right. There is a doorway leading to a blind bay on the left, which features a 20th-century V-jointed planked door. The interior has not been inspected.
