Description
The Old Methodist Chapel, located 15 meters northeast of Chapel Amble Methodist Church, is a former Methodist chapel dating from around 1820. The building features low walls made of rendered cob on a stone rubble plinth, with part of the southeast gable end finished in slate. It has a rag slate roof with half-hipped ends and a single cell rectangular plan. The entrance is located in a later porch on the southeast end, which was added to cover an earlier entrance. The side elevations are lit by two horned 16-pane sash windows, while two early 19th-century hornless sashes flank the site of the pulpit in the northwest rear elevation.
Inside, most furnishings have been removed, but there are remains of a box pew. The chapel was converted to a Sunday School by the Association Methodists when they built their current Methodist Chapel in 1840.
