Description

The building is a Methodist Sunday school, along with a wall and railings at the front, located 170 metres to the northeast of Goads Green. It dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed of stone rubble with a rag slate roof that has hipped ends. The overall plan is rectangular, featuring an entrance in the front end wall and a 20th-century outshut extension on the right-hand side.

The exterior presents a low single-storey structure with a simple design. The entrance is framed by a later 19th-century shallow gabled porch that has a depressed ogee arch and cusped barge boards above. The left-hand side has 20th-century windows, while the right side features the 20th-century outshut. The front is bordered by low rendered 19th-century stone walls topped with granite copings and adorned with painted ornate cast-iron railings. The boundary includes square-on-plan brick and stone rubble piers, with slightly taller gate piers that have rendered curved caps. The gates are also of ornate cast iron and date from the 19th century.

The interior has not been inspected. This Sunday school likely served as the earlier Methodist Chapel before the construction of the Methodist church in 1881, which is now located to the southeast.
