Description
A pair of attached houses dating from the mid-19th century, situated on Fair Street in St Columb Major. The front of the houses is constructed from granite ashlar, with stone rubble to the sides. They have slate roofs with ridge tiles and gable ends, along with gable and axial stacks, the latter with brick shafts.
The houses have a double-depth plan, with No. 20 to the left and No. 22 to the right. No. 20 features a large room to the left and a smaller room to the right, with the entrance situated between them. No. 22 has a doorway to the left and a larger room to the right. Both houses incorporate shallow rear service rooms.
The two-storey front has a symmetrical seven-bay facade, with a plinth, band course, and deep, bracketed eaves. The first floor has seven mid-19th century 12-pane sash windows, each with a voussoir and keystone. The ground floor mirrors this with two similar sashes on either side. The central three bays feature two 19th-century four-panelled doors with overlights, pilasters, and a flat hood supported by stone brackets, alongside a central sash window. The right-hand end of the building has 20th-century French windows. The interior has not been inspected.
