Description

This building, located approximately 3 meters southwest of The Old School House, is an outbuilding likely used as a wash house, with part of it possibly serving as a classroom in the 19th century. It dates from the early 19th century and features painted shale rubble walls and scantle slate roofs with gable ends. There is a rendered external brick chimney on the north gable end. The building has an overall cruciform plan, with each arm of the cross functioning as a separate space. The main room forms the shaft of the cross, while the head of the cross is a later lean-to addition.

It is a single-storey structure, with the northeast front displaying the main room on the left and a projecting gable-ended wash house on the right. The main room has a two-window front, with all openings grouped towards the right. There is a doorway with a ledged door situated between the windows. The left-hand window features a fixed 16-pane light, while the right-hand window has a fixed 20-pane light. Additionally, there is a wide doorway with a ledged door located at the angle of the side (southeast) wall of the wash house. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
