Description
This is a house, likely dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, with later alterations and extensions in the mid to late 20th century. It is constructed of slate stone rubble with a slate roof, featuring a hipped end at the front and a gable end at the rear, with a continuing slate roof on a 20th-century extension to the rear. A projecting stone-rubble stack is located on the left side.
The original plan comprised two rooms, with an entrance originally in the present right-hand wall, leading directly into what is now the front room, which was heated by a lateral stack at the rear. A smaller, unheated room, possibly a dairy, was partitioned off from the main room. In the 19th century, the house was re-oriented, the original entrance was blocked, and a new entrance was created in the left gable end, now facing the road, giving the impression of an end-entry plan. In the mid to late 20th century, the partition between the heated and unheated ground-floor rooms was removed to create a single large room, and a one-room extension was added to the rear.
The front elevation is asymmetrical, with a gable end. It features a two-light casement window on the ground floor to the left, with a slate string above, and a 20th-century part-glazed porch to the right. A two-light casement window is also present on the first floor.
The interior has been altered in the late 19th and mid to late 20th centuries, including the installation of a 20th-century fireplace. The first floor was not inspected during the listing assessment.
