Description
This is a group of six mooring bollards located by the Narabo Ore Hutches on Quay Road in Devoran, dating from the early 19th century. Made of granite, each bollard is round with a flat top and has a square base that is embedded in the ground, except for the far eastern bollard, which has fallen. The bollards are arranged parallel to the river bank and the ore storage hutches. They were originally used to moor boats that were waiting to load mainly copper ore from the ore hutches, which were connected to the mining area by the Redruth and Chasewater Railway, operational from 1824 to 1915.
