Description

This description is for a pair of gate piers and a folly or lodge located about 200 metres southwest of Pentillie Castle. The gate piers date from the 19th century and are made of granite, while the lodge is likely from the 18th century and constructed from slatestone rubble. The gate piers stand on either side of the drive leading to the western approach of Pentillie Castle. The lodge is situated about 30 metres to the north on slightly elevated ground, positioned at a corner of the inner park boundary.

The lodge is a small, single-storey building with a square plan. The gate piers are square granite monoliths, approximately 1.5 metres high, featuring convex necking and ball finials. The lodge has a front window with brick jambs and a smaller window or recessed panel above it, along with lancet windows on the left side and an embattled parapet.
