Description

PILLATON SX 46 SW 6/188 Pair of gate piers and folly/lodge about 200 metres south west of Pentillie Castle GV II Pair of gate piers and folly/lodge. C19 granite piers. Lodge probably C18, in slatestone rubble. Plan: The gate piers flank the drive at the western approach to Pentillie Castle; about 30 metres to the north, on slightly rising ground, is the lodge, set in a corner of the boundary of the inner park. The lodge is a small square plan single storey building. Exterior: Pair of square plan granite monolith piers about 1½ metres high, with convex necking and ball finials. The lodge has a window to front with brick jambs, and a smaller window or recessed panel above. Lancets to the left side. Embattled parapet.
