Description
Trelagossick Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from 1615, with extensions made in the 19th century. It is constructed of slatestone rubble, painted at the rear, and has an asbestos slate roof with brick chimneys on the gable ends of the 19th century section, as well as a stone external stack with a tapered top on the gable end of the 17th century part. The building features a double depth, two-room 19th century block under a double span roof, with one end of the 17th century house still surviving at the north end of the rear.
The farmhouse is two storeys high. The southeast front has three 19th century windows and a stone porch with a gable roof, positioned off centre to the right. Inside the porch, there is a panelled door with glazing above the lock rail. To the left, there is a small 12-pane sash window, and a hornless 20-pane sash window on the ground floor to the left, with a 6-pane sash window above it. The rear of the building has irregularly spaced openings, mostly fitted with sashes, and features a hipped roof porch. The interior dates from the 19th century. Trelagossick was the home of the well-known 17th century dramatist, actor, and humorist Samuel Foote, according to information provided by the current occupant.
