Description

This is a terrace of six houses, originally known as Vivian Terrace, built in the early to mid-19th century. The houses are stuccoed over masonry and have dry Delabole slate roofs to numbers 1, 9, and 11, with a hip roof to the left of number 1; the remaining houses have asbestos slate roofs. Brick end stacks and cast iron ogee gutters are also present. The houses are arranged with a double-depth plan, featuring one room at the front of each, except for number 1, which has two rooms. The terrace presents a 13-window range with carved keyblocks above the original 12-pane hornless sashes on the first floors of numbers 1, 2 and 7. Later horned sashes are present elsewhere. The doorways are round-headed, incorporating original spoked fanlights above six-panel doors. A mid-floor carved band and quoin strips feature on the exterior. Numbers 5 and 9 have two-storey canted bays with moulded cornices. The interiors have not been inspected, but are likely to be of interest. The forecourt is enclosed by rendered plinth walls topped with close-spaced wrought-iron railings. Gates to numbers 1 and 3 have fleur-de-lis finials, scrolled posts, and a round-arched overthrow.
