Description
11 and 12 Boscawen Street is a large town house from the 18th century, now serving as commercial premises with two shops. The front is made of stucco on studwork, topped by a dry Delabole slate hipped roof, which has a brick stack at the rear of the front range, towards the right. The ground-floor layout has been altered to create two shops; it is likely that there was originally a central entrance with a large reception room on either side. The building has two storeys and a seven-window front. The shopfronts, added in the 20th century, feature pilasters and a Doric entablature with triglyphs. Above the shopfronts, there are rusticated quoins and moulded sash boxes. The first floor has five 20th-century windows, while the second floor features seven late 19th or 20th-century four-pane horned sashes. The eaves have an entablature with dentils and modillions. The interior of the ground floor has been altered in the 20th century, and the rest of the interior was not inspected.
