EGLOSKERRY SX 28 NE 8/48 Row of cottages 20 metres south - west of Post Office

GV II

Row of cottages. Probably mid C18 to mid C19. Stone rubble, partly rendered. Rag slate roofs with hipped ends. Stone rubble axial stacks. Plan: Row of 4 cottages of one and two room plan facing the main road which runs through the village of Egloskerry. Second range of cottages adjoining, returning to rear left, consisting of a further two or three cottages of 2 room plan. The cottages are heated by axial stacks. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 5:1:6 window front. Front range has complete C19 2 and 3-light casements on ground and first floor with C20 doors. The left hand side has a canted end, curving out below the eaves. The second range to rear left is set forward and the ground slopes down to the rear. There are C19 2 and 3-light casements and C19 sashes on the ground and first floor with C19 plank doors. Interior: Not inspected. Forms part of group in the centre of Egloskerry village.
