Description
A row of four attached houses, built in the early to mid-19th century with alterations in the 20th century. The houses are constructed of stone rubble, with some areas rendered and one pebbledashed. They have slate roofs with ridge tiles and gable ends to the first two houses, with a hipped roof to the left end of the fourth house. Each pair of houses shares an axial stack, with a brick shaft on the left and a rendered shaft on the right.
The houses are arranged in two pairs, with numbers 1 and 2 on the right and numbers 3 and 4 on the left, stepped down the hillside, with numbers 3 and 4 being at a lower level. Each house follows a two-room plan, with one room at the front and one at the rear, featuring back-to-back fireplaces corresponding to the axial stacks.
Number 1 is two storeys, featuring a 19th-century 12-pane sash window to the left at ground and first floor, with a 20th-century glazed door to the right. Number 2 is also two storeys, with a 19th-century 12-pane sash window to the right at ground and first floor, and a 19th-century four-panelled door to the left. Number 3 has a 12-pane sash window to the left at ground and first floor and a 20th-century half-glazed door to the right. Number 4 features a 12-pane sash window to the right at ground and first floor and a 20th-century half-glazed door to the left. A 20th-century porch and door are located at the left end, alongside a 20th-century window at first floor. The interior of the houses has not been inspected.
