Description
A terrace of three small houses situated on Kersey Road, built around the early to mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of dressed, coarse shale with flat arches, slate sills, and granite doorsteps. Numbers 3 and 4 have been painted. The original roofs are slate for houses 2 and 3, while house 4 has an asbestos slate roof. Brick chimneys rise above the gable ends and party walls, with cast iron ogee gutters. Each house features a reception room at the front, a passage to the left, and a kitchen/living room at the rear. They are two storeys high, with a regular two-window facade facing south towards the road. Each house has a doorway positioned beneath a narrower first-floor window on the left-hand side. The original six-panel doors are later fitted with top glazing, and are set within original basket-arched doorcases; numbers 2 and 4 have consoles. Houses 2 and 3 retain original 12- or 16-pane hornless sash windows, while number 4 has later 4-pane horned sash windows. The interiors have not been inspected. This terrace stands out as one of the most complete examples of 19th-century architecture within a village largely composed of 18th and early to mid-19th century buildings.
