Description
No. 7, St Peters Hill is a house in a row, dating to the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It is built of shale rubble with granite steps, sills, jambstones, and archstones. The roof is covered in asbestos slate with brick chimneys projecting over the gable ends, the left-hand chimney having an external stone breast. The house has a double-depth plan, with two front reception rooms flanking a central passage leading to a central stair, which separates the front rooms from the rear service rooms. It is three storeys high and presents a symmetrical three-window facade to St Peters Hill. The central doorway has a stucco doorcase with a moulded hood supported by moulded consoles, and contains an original six-panel door with flush beaded bottom panels, later glazed top panels, and an overlight. Ground and first floor windows are set in shallow arches with projecting keystones. The second-floor window openings have wooden lintels. All windows are circa late 19th century horned sashes, with those on the ground floor set in wider openings being tripartite sashes. The interior was not inspected.
