Description

Arundell House is a house in a row, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of shale rubble walls with dressed granite steps, sills, archstones, and a mid-floor band. The roof is covered in asbestos slate, with large brick chimneys at the gable ends. The house has a double-depth plan, featuring reception rooms on either side of a nearly central passage, leading to a central staircase between rear service rooms.

The south-west road front is nearly symmetrical with three windows. It features flat arches with projecting keystones. A doorway is central to the fenestration but slightly offset to the right, containing a panelled door with later-added glazed upper panels, sheltered by a 20th-century porch. A lower-level doorway is located to the far left, with a ledged door, likely providing access to a rear passage, as there was formerly a house adjoining on that side. Most windows are late 19th or early 20th century horned sashes, with the exception of the ground floor window on the right, which features a deepened opening and French windows. The interior has not been inspected.
