Description
Camden House is a pair of attached houses located on St Michael's Hill in Bristol, dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed of limestone ashlar with rendered gable stacks and feature a pantile roof that is hipped to the left and has a mansard on the right. The houses have a double-depth plan and rise to three storeys, with a five-window range.
The right-hand house is angled and stepped forward. Each house has a left-hand doorway, a plat band, a first-floor sill band, a frieze, and a cornice leading to a parapet. No. 80 has a rusticated ground floor with "CAMDEN HOUSE" inscribed in the plat band. Its doorway features pilasters, triglyphs, and a pediment, along with a plate-glass fanlight and a six-panel door. No. 82A has fluted brackets supporting a pediment, a plate-glass fanlight, and a mid-19th century two-panel door, as well as a canted bay with plate-glass sashes. The houses also have five stepped voussoirs above 6/6-pane sashes, with 19th-century casements in the mansard. The interior has not been inspected.
