Description

No. 27 Regent Street is an attached office and shop located in Clifton, Bristol, dating from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a single-depth plan in the Italianate style. It stands three storeys tall with an attic and has a four-window range facing Regent Street. The building occupies a corner site, with an entrance and a single window in the rounded corner.

Architectural details include pilasters that are banded on the ground floor, a plinth, a ground-floor cornice, a second-floor sill band, and a coped parapet at the attic storey. The shopfront features an arcade of semicircular arches with faceted keys, moulded archivolts, and an impost band. The corner doorway has a 20th-century door, while the right-hand entrance is divided by the impost band across the lintel and has narrow margin lights leading to a 12-panel door with flush panels. The left return has two windows and plate-glass windows. The first-floor windows have architraves, with plain areas above, and include 2/2-pane sashes with margin panes and 3/3-pane sashes in the attic storey. The left return also features tripartite windows on the first and second floors.

Inside, the entrance hall can be accessed from the right-hand doorway, leading to a small open-well stair with stick balusters and moulded newels.
