Description

This building comprises a late 18th-century house, later used as a bank. It is located on Regent Street, Clifton, Bristol. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar and granite, with a party wall stack. A circa 1900 bank front was built projecting from the ground floor. The house is in a late Georgian style, while the bank front is of an Edwardian Baroque style.

The house itself is three storeys high, with a three-window range, and includes a central pedimented section that projects forward. It features a cornice and parapet. The windows are 6/6-pane sashes, with the second floor having 3/6-pane windows. The projecting bank front has rusticated surrounds to the doorways, a granite plinth, a modillion cornice, and a balustrade. The main doorway on the left features a moulded architrave with a plain panel in the lintel, a dentil segmental pediment, and a two-leaf six-panel door. The right-hand doorway has deep consoles to a canopy and a plain overlight, above a two-panel door. Three windows are placed between distyle-in-antis Ionic columns with banded jambs, and plate-glass windows.

The interior of the bank includes a late 19th-century bank space, along with an 18th-century fireplace at the rear.
