Description
Walls, piers and railings flanking the footpath date from the early 19th century. They are constructed from pennant ashlar and rubble, with wrought- and cast-iron elements. This attractive flagged path runs through the former churchyard of St Andrew's and features wrought-iron railings on either side. There are three notable overthrow arches with lanterns, capped piers, and dwarf walls and railings at the entrance to the path, along with rubble walls surrounding the area. This location is popularly known as Birdcage Walk.
