Description
Nos. 133 and 135 on York Road are a pair of attached houses, built around 1820, which have been subdivided into flats. They are constructed from limestone ashlar and feature a double-depth plan. Each house stands three storeys high, with a basement and attic, and has a single-window range. The ground floor is rusticated, with pilasters and a cornice below the added attic storey. The entrance to No. 135 is set back in a right-hand side block, featuring a semicircular-arched doorway to the right, adorned with rusticated voussoirs and a tear-drop fanlight. The ground and first floors have 10/10-pane sash windows, while the upper floor has 8/8-pane sashes. Additionally, there is a full-width wrought-iron tented verandah on cantilevered brackets at the first floor. Inside, the right-hand hall leads to a fine lateral, curved open-well stair and fielded shutters.
