Description

Westover is a large and well-detailed villa built around 1900, showcasing a mixture of Voysey and neo-Georgian architectural styles. The ground floor is constructed of brick and features Georgian-shaped windows with segment-headed arches and scarlet voussoirs. It has a projecting porch and cloakrooms with alternating brick and stucco quoins, along with a flat parapet that rises at the corners, adorned with a pierced heart motif. The arched doorway is topped with a prominent white semi-circular hood, which is roofed in lead and supported by richly carved console brackets featuring foliage designs.

The upper floors are roughcast and include a vast central staircase window made of unchamfered stone grid with six mullions and two transoms. Above this window is a gable that features an attic window strip with six lights in a moulded frame. The villa also has tall roughcast chimneys in a Voysey style. There are three small gables on the east side and one large gable on the west. The garden-facing (south) side has three symmetrically placed gables, each with 4-light second-floor windows that are segmentally pedimented. These gables are connected by white balustrading in the Voysey style. An off-centre ogee-roofed lead cupola adds to the design.

The villa features a two-storey canted bay alongside a single-storey canted bay with a balustraded balcony. Additionally, there are two well-crafted spoutheads. The entrance is marked by gatepiers made of alternating brick and stone, with original timber gates.
