  1. Italian Gothic villa, circa 1870, faced throughout in fine smooth ashlar. Porch- tower to east: arched entrance covered by later link to hotel, paired 'belfry' windows under blind pointed arches framed by ballflower cornice, eaves coving of encaustic tiles between consoles, pyramid roof gone. Flat-roofed vestibule adjoining: tall paired colonnettes with stiff-leaf capitals between windows, window openings with scallop moulding on flat arch. Main south front has big 3-storey canted bay, the broader top floor connected to the 1st by elaborately moulded squinches, window with same colonettes, foliage capitals and scallop mouldings. To its left paired windows, on 1st floor with semi-circular relieving arches of alternating slate-stone banding, rectangular bay to ground floor with flat window arches and scallop mouldings. Narrow 3-storey canted bay on west flank, plain mullioned windows to service wing, rear part of which is buff brick.
