Description
The North Barn at Bockhampton Farm is an 18th-century structure located on the north side of Bockhampton Road in Middle Bockhampton. It is built of red brick, featuring some grey headers and a decorative eaves band made of grey bricks at the gable end. The barn has a brick eaves cornice and is topped with modern pantiles.
There are large double doors positioned opposite each other, with the eastern pair set within a gabled advanced entrance that has a cambered arch above. The western facade includes diamond-shaped air vents arranged in two groups of three. An unusual air vent in the gable end features a pointed arch with a central brick mullion and grey brick sides. The barn has a butt purlin roof, with trusses butted alternately east and west at the ridge. Additionally, there are single-storey brick outshuts on either side of the entrance along the eastern facade.
The North Barn, along with the Farmhouse, Cottage, and Pump at Bockhampton Farm, forms a group of historic buildings.
