Description

Hertfordshire House Barn, dating from the 18th century, is located on the east side of Coleshill Hertfordshire Lane. The building features a red brick construction with a hipped old tile roof, a central pediment, and an eaves cornice. It stands three storeys tall, with stone floor bands and nine double-hung sash windows, each four panes wide, topped with gauged brick flat arches. A Doric porch leads to a round arched doorway that includes a radial fanlight.

On the south elevation, there is a two-storey bow window to the left and two single-storey bow windows on the right, all of which are later additions. The original design includes one sash window on the first floor and two on the second floor. A modern link on the north side connects to a barn that has been incorporated with a wing featuring a cottage at the north end. The exterior includes brick, rendering, and some weatherboarding on the south side, with a tiled roof and modern hipped dormers at the south end. There is a cart entry with a modern brick arch on the north side, and a boarded gable on the south side that has a pigeon loft.

Inside, the barn retains its 18th-century character with four bays, curved braces supporting the tie beams, alternate raking posts, and queen strut/collar trusses.
