Description

Hertfordshire Lodge, at the corner of Coleshill Lane, Sampson Hill and Hertfordshire Lane, dates from 1845. It is constructed of red brick with a tiled roof and fretted bargeboards to the gable end. The two-storey south elevation features a central door with an open gabled porch, alongside two two-light casement windows on either side, each with a flat brick hoodmould and chamfered reveals. Above, there are two similar windows. The date 1855 is inscribed in bottle ends above the door. A gable end has two two-light casement windows to each floor, with ogee gothic glazing bars to each light, brick chamfers and hoodmoulds. A blank recess to the gable is also finished with a hoodmould. The brickwork includes a diaper pattern created with bottle ends. Small lean-to additions have been made to the north and west sides.
