Description

Hambury Farm House and the attached barn are located on the north side of Main Road in West Lulworth. The farmhouse, built in the late 18th to early 19th century, features plastered walls and a tiled roof with a brick dentil cornice at the eaves, along with brick stacks. It is two storeys high, with a panelled door set in a glazed 19th-century porch that has a tiled roof. The ground floor includes two double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, while the first floor has three similar windows. The main block extends at the rear under a catslide roof.

The lower wing at the back appears to be earlier, likely dating from the early 18th century, and has stone walls with a tiled roof and stone eaves courses. The yard-facing elevation features a central ledged door and double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The east elevation has two ground floor windows with glazing bars and a gabled half-dormer with a double-hung sash window.

The attached barn on the west side has stone and brick walls and a tiled roof. Its front elevation includes double doors and timber windows, along with a large cart porch entrance at the rear that has a hipped roof and timber doors. There are later lean-tos at the rear, and the barn has a simple tie-beam roof structure. It has been extended to the west in a similar construction, creating a stable with a hayloft above.
