Description
Humber Farmhouse and the adjoining barn date from the mid and early 18th century, respectively, with later additions. The farmhouse is built from hammer-dressed stone, with the house featuring watershot stone and a graduated stone slate roof. It is a two-bay, single-depth structure with two storeys, and the barn is under a continuous roof to the right. The building has quoins and a projecting plinth. A central porch wing, which is of slightly later date, has a chamfered door surround and is flanked by two-light double-chamfered stone mullion windows on each floor. The upper floor originally had a window inserted in the 18th century, which is now blocked. The gable is coped with kneelers, and there are chimney stacks at the gable and ridge. The barn features opposed cart entries, a shippon door to the left, and a lean-to extension, along with a small additional wing at the gable end and rear. An inscribed stone on the rear of the barn includes the initials IS (Isaac Smith). The rear of the house has a 20th-century porch and a two-light window similar to those at the front.
