Description

This 19th-century cast iron milestone is located beside the wall of Staplecross Farmhouse on Salisbury Road. It features raised lettering and marks the former turnpike route from Ringwood to Christchurch. The milestone is now of historic interest due to the construction of a new bypass that has altered the road's use. Staplecross Farmhouse and the adjacent milestone form a group with Hawthorn Cottage, which is considered a building of local interest on Hawthorne Road.
