Description

This 19th-century cast iron milestone features raised lettering that indicates distances to Ringwood and Christchurch along the old turnpike road. It is part of a group that includes the gate, gate piers, lamp, railed wall, and lodge at Moorlands Bible College, which is located opposite. Due to boundary changes, these buildings, previously in the Borough of Christchurch, are now within the Parish of Sopley.
