Description
Granary located about 150 metres southeast of Bockhampton Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century and incorporating some earlier timber. It is timber-framed and clad in corrugated iron, topped with a slate half-hipped roof. The structure is a small rectangular three-bay design, resting on stone staddles, with seven on the north and south sides and four on the east and west sides. There is a doorway with a plank door, accessed by wooden steps at the right end of the north side.
Inside, the granary likely features reused earlier wall-posts with jowled heads and tie-beams that have mortices for braces. The existing curved braces are nailed to the wall-posts and tie-beams. The floor consists of old broad planks. The granary is part of a group that includes the South Barn and Granary at Bockhampton Farm.
